About Germain Street Open
Founded in 1993 by the owner and friends of O’Leary’s Pub, the Germain Street Open has grown into one of Uptown Saint John’s most creative and community-driven events. What started as a playful idea has become a beloved fall tradition—transforming the streets, offices, businesses, and homes of the neighborhood into a lively “urban golf” course like no other.Teams of four or five (optional caddy) show up in full costume, ready to take on a mini-putt course mapped across Uptown. Each stop is hosted by local businesses or residents, with custom-designed holes, themed challenges, and plenty of surprises along the way.Now in its 30+ year run, the Germain Street Open is about more than just golf—it’s about giving back. Proceeds from past events have supported Make-A-Wish Canada and, more recently, L’Arche Saint John’s Creative Connections art program. This isn’t a spectator sport. Build your team and be part of one of Saint John’s most creative community traditions.

Why It Matters
